SPARTA, NJ – Sparta High School athlete Gianna Macones has signed a letter of intent to continue her Track and Field career at Bucknell University.

"I would like to thank Coach Heckman and my club coach, Dave Lado, who put in a lot of dedication and provided a lot of guidance to help me get where I am today," Macones said. "I am really looking forward to competing at Bucknell next fall, and am extremely grateful for all of the academic and athletic opportunities track has provided me."

"Gianna is as talented , coachable, dedicated, and as wonderful a role model to her teammates as they come,” Coach Richard Heckman said. "She will do well both athletically and academically when she embarks on her college career."

Sparta High School had one of the largest Division I signing classes in its history, according to the office of the school’s Athletic Director.  This year the 10 athletes have signed National Letters of Intent at the fall signing deadline.
