MENDHAM, NJ - In a tightly contested battle and the closest match of Sparta's season, the Spartans fall just short to Mendham, 149-160. Jack Simon was tied for first place with two Mendham players with a score of 35 but that was not enough for the team to keep their undefeated season alive. t

Jimmy Apostolico finished three strokes off the lead with a score of 38. Besides Simon and Apostolico, Mendham had five of the top seven players.

The Mendham Golf and Tennis club was a new course to Sparta this season and that played a factor in Tuesday's match. James Lynch and Jack Maloney finished nine shots back and CJ Matthews finished 14 shots back.
