SPARTA,  NJ – Sparta High School boys soccer won their home opener against Montville on Monday 3-1.   All of the scoring came in the first half of the game.  Danny DiMarco found the back of the net twice and Eric DaSilva had one.

Gianluca BIvona, Mike Nofi and Vaughn Thomas each assisted on the three goals. 

New in goal for Sparta this year, Alban Ukaj had three saves.  DiMarco opted come out of the net and play on the field.  The sophomore has three goals and an assist in the team’s two games in the young season.

“This is a good group of kids,” assistant coach Alex Alteri said.  “They are able to move the ball well.  They are strong in the back and comfortable with the defense so we can be more confident going forward. They have more speed up front which gives us more weapons.”

Boivona said, “Montville played a great physical game.  We were able to pull it together in the back and score.”

The team’s record stands at 2-0 as they look to host Mount Olive on Wednesday afternoon.
