PHILLIPSBURG, NJ – The Sparta High School boys soccer team shut out fourth seed Phillipsburg in the semifinal round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament in an upset 1-0 on Saturday.

The win came off a goal from freshman Nick Butera with minutes left in the second half.  Butera has five goals for the season.  Sparta goalie.  Sparta Danny Dimarco stopped seven Lineman shots, while Sparta took four shots on Phillipsburg goalie Chase Adams.

Sparta had picked off High Point in the quarterfinals.  After defeating Phillipsburg the Spartan boys will go up against the Hunterdon Central Red Devils. The Hunterdon Central team shut out Newton to get to the finals.

 Sparta is seeded eighth and Hunterdon Central is the third seed.  The game will be played at Warren Hills High School in Washington Twp. on Saturday beginning at 3:30 p.m.
