ROCKAWAY, NJ – Sparta High School girls and boys track and field competed at the North Jersey Athletic Conference meet at Morris Hills High School in Rockaway on May 9 and 10. They went up against other NJAC teams from Chatham, Delbarton, Jefferson, Mendham, Montville, Mount Olive, Morris Hills, Morris Knolls, Morristown, Pope John, Randolph, Roxbury, and West Morris Central.

For the girls:

Junior Gianna Macones took first in the 100 Meter Dash and first in the Triple Jump. Sophomore Carlie Wilson finished fifth in the 400 Meter Dash. Wilson took fourth in the High Jump.  Junior Zoe Canzaniero finished sixth in the High Jump.

Senior Cayleigh Glew finished third in the 400 Meter Hurdles.  Zoe Cazaniero finished right behind her for fourth.  Glew took fifth in the 100 Meter Hurdles.

For the boys:

Senior Andrew Pondiscio had the highest jump in the High Jump at 6’2”.  Freshman Jake Galluccio finished fifth in the High Jump.

Pondiscio and Senior Jason Rotondi finished second and third in the Long Jump.  Rotondi took a third place in the Triple Jump.

Junior Ben Davis finished second in the Javelin and seventh in Discus. Senior Billy Loewen took second in the Shot Put.

Sophomore Brayden Jensen finished ninth in the 800 Meter run.
