SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta High School girls basketball team ran down Roxbury on Monday winning 31-20. The Spartans were led by Paige Smith with 15 points.  Smith had five field goals, a three pointer and made two free throws.  She also was credited with five rebounds and three steals.

Erin Walsh was right behind with 11 points with eight two-pointers and three free throws.  She pulled down 10 rebounds as well.

Emily Dilger contributed defensively with 11 rebounds, two steals and five points.

"This was not one of our better performances," Coach Cathy Willie said.  "We did, however, do an excellent job on the defensive boards and I am very proud of our team because they found a way to win."

The girls will host Morris Knolls on Friday night at 7 p.m.  Their record stands at 5-2.
