SPARTA, NJ – Sparta High School girls lacrosse scored 35 goals in two games this week, grabbing two more wins to move to the final round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament. In addition to the wins, Katilin Mead passed her 200th  goal mark.

On Thursday, number one-seeded Sparta beat fourth ranked North Hunterdon 19-10 at Sparta’s Reis Field.  The two teams were neck and neck in the first half with a halftime score of 9-9.  The second half was a different story.

Kaitlin Mead led the Spartan effort with seven goals, three assists and nine ground balls.  Jacqui Hallack found the net five times with four assists and three ground balls.

Julianna McGuire was next contributing four goals, two assists and eight ground balls. 

Rounding out the big score was Courtney Klein with two goals and Hailey Mead adding one with two assists and eight ground balls.

Brianna Falco, Lauren Neufeld, Kelly Vogel, Paige Ryan all helped the efforts snagging ground balls.

Madison Levinson stopped 13 North Hunterdon attempts for the win.

On Tuesday, the girls hosted Kittatinny in the quarterfinal round of the tri-county tourney, crushing them 26-5. 

Hallack scored seven, Kaitlin Mead netted five with five assists, Bayleigh Takacs had four goals and two assists and Hailey Mead added three goals.

Lauren Neufeld and Brianna Falco each contributed two goals.  Julianna McGuire, Paige Ryan and Audrey Krajicek all had a goal as well.

Goalie Levinson had five saves. 

The girls will play at Mountain Lakes on Friday afternoon.

The Spartans will play second ranked Hunterdon Central on in the final round on Saturday.

JCP&L Latest Information, Free Ice and Water

SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ – As of 8:47 p.m. JCP&L is reporting 12,745 customers or 22.11 percent, are without power in Sussex County.  In Sparta 2749 or 32 percent remain in the dark.

JCP&L said they anticipate the “vast majority of the remaining customers to be restored to service by late Thursday.”
