SPARTA, NJ – Sparta High School senior was honored at the Greater Morris County Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame as a top Scholar-Athlete. Thomas Ferrara was recognized at the 24 annual dinner on March 22 at the Madison Hotel.
"I feel very honored to have been chosen to represent Sparta High School as their Scholar-Athlete,” Ferrara said. ”It was truly a memorable event and I was proud to share the evening with the other recipients from the area.”
In addition to his hard work in the classroom and on the playing field, Ferrara is active in a number of clubs and volunteer organizations.
Ferrara played tight end and was the long snapper, a starting player for the last two seasons.
"Thomas exemplifies everything a student-athletes should be," football coach Frank Marchiano said. "He has worked tirelessly in the classroom and on the field to be the best he can be. We are sad to see him go but the future is bright for Thomas."
After graduation from Sparta High School, Ferrara will attend Cornell University in the fall.
“Football has taught me the value of hard work and commitment and I intend to carry this discipline with me through the next four years at Cornell University," Ferrara said.
