SPARTA, NJ- Sparta High School softball in going to the NJSIAA finals after beating six seed Montville on Friday 3-0.  It was another shutout for Paige Smith, making this the eighth shutout for Smith this season.

Second seed Sparta’s bat were hot with 12 hits but Montville’s defense was tough, allowing only three to cross the plate. 

Olivia Bouma-Hannam, Tatiana Esteva-Ingram and Erin Scott scored for Sparta.  Jessica Esso had two RBIs and Carolyn Jacobs earned an RBI as well.

Smith struck out 11 allowing only two Montville hits and a walk.

Sparta will play for the North 1 Group 3 title on Tuesday.  They will face top seed Indian Hills in Oakland.  Oakland moved past fifth seed Paramus 18-6.
