SPARTA, NJ – Sparta Track and Field competed against Pope John on May 2.

The Sparta boys:

Jason Rotundi finished first in Triple Jump and High Jump.  He took second in the Long Jump behind Sparta’s Andrew Pondiscio.  Pondiscio also took second in the 200M.  Peter DeFelice and Kyle Frey finished two and three behind Rotundi in the High Jump.

Sparta also took the first and second place spot in Javelin.  Ben Davis had the farthest throw and Billy Loewen got second.

Loewen had the second place throw in Shot Put as well.

DeFelice and Matt Carlson got the second and third place finish in the 400M.  Brayden Jenson took second in the 200M.

The girls:         

Carlie Wilson took first in the High Jump and in the 400 Meter run.

Gianna Macones took first in the Triple Jump and 100 Meter High Hurdles.  She finished second in the Long Jump.

Sparta girls took the top three spots in the 400 Meter Intermediate Hurdles and 100 Meter High Hurdles.  Zoe Canzoniero, Michaela Pampin and Emily Krosker finished one, two and three in the 400IH and Macones, Canzoniero and Kosker went one, two, three in the 100HH.

Mia Frands threw for a second place in Shot Put and in Javelin and third in Discus.   

Julia Liland finished third in the 200 Meter.  Michaela Pampin finished third in the 800 Meter.

One Injured in Two-Family House Fire in Newton
