NEWTON, NJ – Sparta High School Track and Field teams competed at the Sussex County Invitational, Newton Nights meet.
For the girls:
Cayleigh Glew took first place in the 100 Meter Hurdles. She also place second in the 100 Meter Dash. Gianna Macones finished fifth in that race as well.
Sarah Levine-Ramirez finished first in the 400 Meter Dash.
Macones took third in the 200 Meter Dash.
Lindsay Rippey finished fourth in the 800 Meter Run.
Charlotte Cooper finished fifth in the 3,200 Meter Run.
Michaela Pampin and Rachael Spelman finished four and five in the 400 Meter Hurdles.
Sparta took third in the 4x400 Meter Relay.
Sparta had a strong showing in the Long Jump:
Meghan Boryeskne finished second, Glew in third, Katie Hastings sixth and Macones eighth.
Hastings and Boryeskne came in first and second, Glew and Macones finished fourth and fifth in the Triple Jump.
For the boys:
Joe Spekhardt took first in the 110 Meter Hurdles.
Tom Lynch finished first in the 800 Meter Run.
Aaron Keck threw for second place in Discus.
Andrew Pondiscio took second in the High Jump, second in the Long Jump and finished fourth in the 200 Meter Dash.
Sparta did well in the Shot Put; Billy Loewen finished second and Aaron Keck fourth.
Jason Rotondi took sixth in the Long Jump.
In the Triple Jump Pondiscio and Rotondi finished fourth and fifth.
Thomas Livecchi came in second in the 400 Meter Dash.
The Sparta team took first place in the 4x400 Meter Relay.
