SPARTA, NJ - Sparta High School choir student Veronica LaBelle was chosen to perform in the All-Eastern Honors Choir. She will join more than 800 other student musicians, including instrumentalists and vocalists from Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Washington DC and Europe.
The ensembles will consist of a concert band, symphony orchestra, mixed chorus, treble voice chorus and jazz ensemble. The National Association for Music Education organizes the event.
The students will rehearse for three days during the Eastern Division Conference of the National Association for Music Educators. The conference will be held in Providence, Rhode Island this year on April 11 and 12, 2015.
LaBelle participated in the All-County, All-State and All-National choirs, making her eligible for selection to this prestigious ensemble. At Sparta High School she sings with the Women’s Choir, Honors Choir, Schapella and participated in the musical last spring.
She will perform on Sunday, April 12 at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium.
Choir teacher Laura Lopez said, “I am very proud of Veronica's dedication to the choral program. These Honor choirs she is participating in take a lot of rehearsal time, yet she has never missed a rehearsal at school. She is a talented young lady with a lot of heart."
Sparta Board of Education President and choir teacher Karen Scott said, “This is wonderful. Congratulations to Veronica.”
Superintendent Dennis Tobin said, “Congratulations to Veronica and our staff. Well done.”
