SPARTA, NJ - The best way to get over a tough loss like the one that the Spartans suffered Friday in the 51-12 loss to Kittatinny,  is to get back in action the following day.  The wrestlers were excited to get back in winning ways Saturday and that is exactly what they did.

In a tournament-like quad featuring teams from Vernon, Hopatcong and New Providence, Sparta stole the show, beating all their opponents with quite ease. Every wrestler had a victory Saturday. In fact, only six wrestlers lost and only three were pinned.

Sparta started their morning off with 57-12 win over Hopatcong. The team followed that up with a thrashing of Vernon, 72-6. The only victory Vernon earned was a pin by Mike Alvarez in the second period of the 220 pound weight class bout. Sparta ended their day with a 50-22 win over New Providence.

Senior Paddy Finnegan said that while back to backs may be tough, the team knew what had to be done today to ensure victory in all three matches.

The Sparta boys are back in action Wednesday afternoon at Pope John. The match begins at 4 p.m.
