SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta High School wrestling team dominated Mount Olive on Wednesday in the main gym. The team won four rounds with a pin.  The Spartans started strong with the heavy weights.  Al Falco set the tone in the 170 pound class with a pin in 1:43 minutes.   The next round was also won with a pin by Ryan Pyper at 182. Zach Herbert in the 285 weight class and Garrett Gerndt at 120 both pinned their opponents.

  • Robert Gennat at 220 in a 5-1 decision
  • Christopher Hwant at 106 in a 13-3 Major Decision
  • Grant Gerndt at 126 in a 4-2 decision
  • Sean Finnegan at 138 in a 10-5 decision
  • Sean McHugh at 145

Coach Frank Battaglia said, "It was important for us to come out strong. Al Falco set the night with a first period pin followed by a dominating performance from Ryan Pyper.which rolled through to our lighter weights.”
