On Sunday, November 24, 2019, the Sparta Historical Society invites the community and families to stop by the Van Kirk Homestead Museum. This pre-Thanksgiving Holiday opening will be held from 1-4 pm.

 

As part of the Open House, all permanent gallery rooms, both main floor, downstairs and upstairs, as well as the wagon barn, will be in operation.  The permanent main floor Sparta Gallery room displays Sparta’s diverse economic, historical and cultural heritage, Robert Ogden letters, exhibits on agriculture and early industries, Lake Mohawk and tourism.  The permanent main floor Farm Gallery room displays vintage farming tools as well as a farm model display.  As you enter, the Van Kirk Homestead, the Victorian parlor with its period furnishings greet you. 

 

Most important of all, this will be the next to final day to see the Fall 2019 exhibit, “NJ Glass:  Earth, Wind and Fire” on loan from Museum of American Glass located in Millville, NJ. The talk about this exhibit is scheduled at 2PM.  Stay tuned for final “All Dressed Up for the Holidays” open house on Sunday, December 8, 2019.
