MORRISTOWN, NJ – The Sparta Ice Hockey team traveled to Mennen arena on Monday to take on Mountain Lakes.  The final score was 4-2 with Sparta on top.

The teams took turns scoring, with a goal for each team in both the first and second periods. The first Sparta goal came from Connor Erickson assisted by Matt Redding and Brendon Erickson.  In the second period Colin Higdon hit the net. 

Sparta pulled ahead with two unanswered goals by the Erickson brothers.  Jeremy Dericks got an assist on Brendon Erickson’s goal.  Connor Erickson scored the final goal on an empty net.

Each team had three minor penalties. 

Sparta had 23 shots on goal while the Sparta Goalie Dalton Schroepfer stopped 13 Mountian Lakes shots.

Their season record is now 2-4 as they prepare to play High Point on Friday at 5:30 on the ice at Skyland’s Ice World.

“I really hope we get some fans to come watch our games.  It’s always nice to have the support,” said team Captain Dericks.
