MORRISTOWN, NJ – With the thermometer finally showing signs of winter the Sparta High School ice hockey team traveled to Mennen Arena to face off against Morris Hills.
The game reflected a post-holiday pace, with low numbers for shots on goals for both teams and little physicality.
Sparta’s Connor Erickson took advantage of a power play scoring the first goal. As of Saturday, Dec 2 Connor is ranked ninth in the state for goals with 13.
Morris Hills answered back tying the game going into the second period.
Sparta’s Colin Higdon put Sparta back on top in the second on an assist from Nolan Kafafian and Andrew Lopuch.
The lead did not hold as Morris Hills scored again to end the second period.
Neither team found the net in the third leaving it a 2-2 tie. Sparta is now 5-7-1, they will travel to Englewood's Mackay Park Arena to play Tenafly on Friday.
