SPARTA, NJ – Sparta JV volleyball beat Pope John in the main gym at Sparta High School on Wednesday.  This is the JV’s second win over Pope John this season.  The victory was a team effort.

Sophomore setter Sophia Sandgran helped lead the team to the win with several service runs and team-high assists. 

Front row players Erin Scott and Katie Hastings recorded kills and blocks.  Kelli Vogel scored on several tips over the net.

Bayleigh Takacs took the Spartans through over twelve consecutive service points and added point value with several digs and back row hits. 

Alissa Schaberick and Julia Potvin were strong with serves and back row play. 
While the Lions tried to come back several times, the aggressive team play from the Spartans overpowered their attempts. 

With the win the JV Spartans improved to 6-5 on the season.

They will host West Morris Central on Friday.

The community is invited to support the team and Breast Cancer Awareness next Friday when the volleyball teams will be playing their Dig Pink games.
