SPARTA, NJ – A few rain drops did not stop the Kiwanis from holding their second annual Fall Family Fun Day at the pavilion at Station Park on Sunday. Kiwanis event organizer Stuart Schwartz said they had “a couple hundred people” attend. As the rain let up the families showed up.
“We have gotten good feedback,” Schwartz said. “People appreciate that we do this for the community. It’s just fun and games and food with no cost at all.”
In addition to the Kiwanis members, 15 Sparta High School and four Sussex Technical High School Key Club members were there to lend a hand, assisting with the activities. Children were able to choose a pumpkin from the Kiwanis pumpkin patch to paint. There was also face painting and masks to decorate.
The egg toss and egg relay games and tug of war were popular as well.
“We are starting a tradition here,” Schwartz said. “We’ve met a lot of nice people, even some who are brand new to Sparta.”
Schwartz wanted the community to know they are always looking for people over 18 who are interested in joining the Sparta Kiwanis in volunteering for the community. He can be reached at 973-459-0194
