SPARTA, NJ – Sparta man faces charges for driving while intoxicated, having been stopped by Sparta police at 11:10 a.m. for erratic driving. On November 10 Sparta Police Detective Brian Hassloch saw William Moody, 66, cross over the double yellow lines several times on Andover Road, police reported.
Hassloch suspected the driver was under the influence of alcohol when he approached Moody. There were also several empty beer bottles in the car, according to police.
Sparta Cpl Marc Rubino then took over the investigation and administered field sobriety tests. Rubino then took Moody into custody and brought him to Sparta Police Department headquarters, where he was breath tested and processed.
Moody was charged with DWI, careless driving, failure to keep right and failure to exhibit documents.
Moody was released several hours later to a sober adult pending a court date.
