Sparta Police: Broken Brake Light Leads to DWI Arrest

SPARTA, NJ – A Lake Hopatcong man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after a broken brake light drew the attention of Sparta Police Officer Timothy Lynott.  On August 5 around 1:30 a.m. Lynott saw Krzysztof Winiarski on Green Road, police report.

Lynott pursued the Winiarski and saw him make an illegal left turn onto Woodport Road.  Lynott pulled him over.  When the officer spoke with the driver, Lynott smelled alcohol, saw that Winiarski’s eyes were bloodshot and he slurred his words, police report. 

Cpl. Anotnello arrived on the scene to give back-up assistance. Winiarski was given field sobriety tests and then taken into custody.  He was taken to Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing and breath testing.

Winiarski was charged with DWI, illegal left turn, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, maintenance of lamps.  He was released pending a court date.

SPARTA, NJ – Sparta Police had a mystery to solve on August 11 when they were called to investigate an abandon car in the middle of the road at the intersection near Blue Heron and Route 181.  It was around 10 a.m. when Cpl.
