SPARTA, NJ – A Montague man is facing drug charges after being stopped on Route 15 for a burned out headlight. On April 11 Sparta Cpl. Marc Rubino stopped a 2001 Lexus on the northbound side around 11:55 p.m. according to police.
When speaking with the driver, Jesse Stroman, 28, Rubino smelled marijuana coming from the car. Rubino searched Stroman’s car and found two plastic bags containing marijuana, police report.
Stroman was taken into custody and brought to the Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing.
Stroman was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. He also received tickets for maintenance of lamps and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
He was released pending a court date.
