SPARTA, NJ – A young Branchville woman is facing drug charges after being stopped on Route 15 for a broken license plate light. On February 13, Sparta Police Officer Marc Rubino pulled over a 2001 Dodge on the northbound side of Route 15 around 9:50 p.m. according to police.
When Rubino went to speak with the driver, Courtney Best, 21, he smelled burnt marijuana. When asked, Best admitted having marijuana and other paraphernalia in her car, police report.
Rubino found a multicolored glass smoking pipe in the car and marijuana in a cigar package in Best’s purse, according to police.
Best was taken into custody brought to the Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing. Best was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
She was released pending a court date.
