SPARTA, NJ – A Brooklyn man was pulled over on Route 15 for speeding and broken tail lights.  On March 25, around 2:10 a.m. Sparta Police Officer Thom Herd stopped the 2015 Toyota on the northbound side, being driven by Khazym Fontenelle, according to police.

When Herd approached the 22-year-old driver, he smelled raw marijuana.  Herd searched the vehicle and found two zip lock plastic bags of marijuana, a metal grinder and three packs of rolling papers, according to police.

Fontenelle was taken into custody and brought to the Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing.

Fontenelle was charged with possession of funder 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Her was also given tickets for speeding, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and illuminating devices required. 

He was released pending a court date.
