SPARTA, NJ – An Ogdensburg man is facing DWI and other charges after having been pulled over for speeding on Route 15.  Sparta Police Officer Tim Lynott saw Santiago Traverso Jr. traveling on the northbound side of the highway “at an extremely high rate of speed,” according to police.

In addition to speeding, Lynott saw Taverso run the red light at the top of the exit ramp at Sparta Junction.  It was about 11:15 p.m. when Lynott pulled the 45-year-old over, according to police.

When Lynott spoke with Taverso he suspected the driver to be under the influence of alcohol.  The officer had Taverso perform field sobriety tests and then took him into custody.  Taverso was taken to Sparta Police Department headquarters for breath testing and processing, according to police.
