SPARTA, NJ – A Passaic man is facing charges related to a report of a suspicious white van.  On May 31 at 7:10 p.m. Sparta Police Officer Steve Guido went to Springbrook Trail to follow up on the report about the vehicle.

Guido checked on the 2007 Ford van displaying New York license plates and found they plates were stolen.  The officer spoke with the owner of the van, Francisco Dicent-Reynoso.  The 38-year-old told the officer he bought the van months ago and the previous owner let him use the plates to drive the vehicle home, with the understanding Dicent-Reynoso would return them.

When Dicent-Reynoso failed to return them the owner had reported the plates stolen.  Reysoso was taken into custody and brought to the Sparta Police Department headquarters.  He was charged with theft of movable property and given tickets for unregistered motor vehicle, uninsured motor vehicle and fictitious plates.

He was released pending a court date.
