SPARTA, NJ – Thanking the communities for their generosity, Sparta Police Department together with Byram and Andover Police Departments collected 35,328 pounds of food and $6,900 in cash for the Sussex County Food Bank.

On Saturday, November 19 the police made collections at Karl’s Auto Body. On Sunday, November 20 the police, Mohawk House’s Steve Scro and collected food and cash in front of the Sparta Stop and Shop.

The food and money was delivered to the Sussex County Food Bank ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.  They will go to replenish local food pantries, assisting families in the county, especially children who rely on schools for their daily meals.

With the police departments’ collections completed, anyone looking to make donations can do so directly to the food pantry.
