SPARTA, NJ - THe Sparta Police Department, together with Byram and Andover Police Departments are collecting food items  on Sunday, November 19 in front of the Sparta Stop and Shop.  The food will go to Sussex County residents in need for the Thanksgiving holiday.  

All food and money they collect at the Stop and Shop, as well as items collected on Saturday at Karl's Auto Body will go to the Sussex county food bank. 

The police departments are asking for:

  • chicken noodle soup, all types of soup,
  • canned tuna or chicken,
  • macaroni and cheese
  • granola bars,
  • fruit snacks,
  • ramen noodles,
  • canned Spaghetti O's, Alphabets, ravioli 
  • juice packets, 
  • peanut butter,
  • jelly,
  • cereal, 
  • pasta and pasta sauce,
  • meals in a can,
  • canned vegetables, 
  • pancake/waffle mix,
  • beans, 
  • crackers, 
  • any other non-perishable foods. 

These foods will help feed children on the week end when they do not get meals in school.  This food drive will also go to replenish the food pantry.
