SPARTA, NJ – A Sparta woman is facing drug charges after a traffic stop on Route 15. On April 21 around 11:10 a.m. Sparta Cpl. Joe Antonello stopped Marina Scheer, 20, because the license plate on her green Toyota was bent making it impossible to read, according to police.
When Antonello spoke with Scheer he smelled marijuana in the car. Scheer said there had been a passenger in her car that had pot. Additional officers arrived to assist in searching the car, police say.
When Scheer was getting out of the car the officer saw her putting something down the front of her sweatpants. When confronted, Scheer admitted she tried to hide her pot and pipe in her pants. She gave the officer a black velvet bag containing marijuana and a glass pipe, according to police.
Scheer was taken to Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing. She was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructed view, improper safety glass, unclear plate and controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. She was released with a court date.
