SPARTA, NJ – An Andover man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop for a broken headlight.  On November 11 around 11:30 a.m. Sparta Police Cpl. Kurt Morris saw a white Acura driving on Woodport Road, police say.

When speaking with the driver, Yosiff Hafez, 35, the officer smelled marijuana in the car.  Hafez showed Morris a glass jar containing marijuana and a medical marijuana card, police report.

Sgt. Fraser and Cpl. Mastandrea arrived to provide assistance.  Hafez’s card had expired in March of 2016.  He was taken into custody and brought to Sparta police department headquarters, police report.

Hafez was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and maintenance of lamps.  He was released with a court date.
