SPARTA, NJ – A Lafayette woman is being charged with driving while intoxicated after crossing the double yellow line, nearly colliding with a Sparta police car. On November 28, at 9:50 p.m. Cpl. Rob Fraser and Police Officer Tom Herd were on Main Street near the Goddard School when Diana Agana-Hutchings was seen driving erratically, police report.
The police said they had to take evasive action to avoid getting hit by Agana-Hutchings. They turned around and pulled Agana-Hutchings over. After speaking with her, the Sparta police suspected Agana- Hutchings was intoxicated, police report.
After performing field sobriety tests, the Lafayette resident was taken into custody and transported to Sparta Police Department headquarters for breath testing and processing.
Agana-Hutchings was charged with DWI, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, unlicensed driver and failure to notify change of address. She was released several hours later to a sober adult pending a court date.
