SPARTA, NJ – A Dover woman is charged with driving while intoxicated after a Sparta Police Officer saw her stopped in the left lane of Blue Heron Drive and then drive into the dead end of the Laddey, Clark and Ryan building on October 1 around 10:20 p.m. according to police.

Officer Thomas Snyder followed Ailsa Demendoza, 30, as she turned around and got onto Route 15 north.  Despite Snyder having turned on his flashing lights, Demendoza continued to drive for a mile down Route 15 before stopping, police report.

When Snyder spoke with Demendoza he saw her eyes were bloodshot and watery and her speech was slurred.  He also smelled an alcoholic beverage.  Officer Favaro arrived to provide assistance as Demendoza was given field sobriety test, police report.

Demendoza was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department Headquarters.  She was given a breath test and processed.  Demendoza was charged with DWI, careless driving failure to stop or yield, failure to maintain lane, obstructed view of windshield.

She was released with a court date.
