SPARTA, NJ – A Boonton Man is facing drug charges after being reported to police by other drivers.  On November 20 around 7:25 p.m. Sparta Cpl. Marc Rubino went to Glen Road and Main Street on the report of an erratic driver, police report. 

Rubino stopped the beige Nissan Maxima driven by Joseph Colon, on Main Street across from Sparta Police Department headquarters.  When the 28-year-old was getting his documents, the officer saw two hypodermic needles, on the driver’s seat, according to police.

Sgt. Carbery arrive to assist and Colon’s car was searched.  The officers found 15 wax folds of heroin, a glass crack pipe, several empty wax folds and three hypodermic needles, according to police. 

Colon was placed under arrest and taken across the street to the police department for processing.  Colon was charged with possession of heroin, possession of hypodermic needles and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Due to his extensive criminal history police say he was taken to the Keogh Dwyer Correctional Facility.
