SPARTA, NJ – A Milford, PA man was arrested on several charges after being stopped for speeding on Route 15, according to police.
On June 22 at 12:45 a.m. Sparta Cpl. Kurt Morris stopped the 2012 Subaru for speeding after exiting Route 15 at Sparta Junction and turning left on a red light police report.
After speaking with the driver, 18 year-old James Towers Cpl. Morris suspected Towers’ was possibly driving while intoxicated. Towers was giving a field sobriety test after which he was placed under arrest police report.
Towers was searched and found to have a marijuana grinder in his pocket, before being transported to Sparta Police department headquarters for processing and breath testing, police report.
Towers was charged with DWI, speeding, careless driving and failure to observe a traffic signal. He was also charged criminally with possession of drug paraphernalia, police report.
He was released several hours later to a sober adult pending a court hearing.
