SPARTA, NJ – A passenger in moving van from Bronx, New York is facing drug charges after being stopped for not staying in their lane. Police Officer Brian Porter stopped the truck on June 29, around 10:15 a.m. police said.
When the officer spoke with the driver, Porter smelled marijuana. The passenger Noberto Rodriguez, 55, said he had a bag of pot in the pocket of his pants, police report.
A search of the truck turned up several items of drug paraphernalia. Rodriguez admitted they were his as well. Rodriguez was taken into custody and brought to the Sparta Police Department headquarters, police report.
Rodriguez was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was given a court date and released. The driver was ticketed for failure to maintain a lane.
