SPARTA, NJ – A Jersey City man is facing drug charges after failing to signal a turn.  On June 17 around 12:30 a.m. Police Officer Brian Porter saw Jerod Hector, 43, turn right onto Moan street without putting on his blinker, police said.

When Porter spoke with Hector in his Jeep Grand Cherokee the officer smelled marijuana in the car.  Hector told Porter he and his wife had smoked a joint earlier.  When the car was searched the officer found marijuana and open bottles of alcohol, police report.

Hector admitted they were his.  He was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing.  Hector was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, unregistered vehicle, open container in a motor vehicle, failure to keep right, improper turn.  He was given a court date and released.
