SPARTA, NJ – A box truck drive is facing drug charges after being stopped on White Lake Road. Sparta Police Officer Steven Guido stopped Kyon Handcock on October 12 around 9:30 a.m. because the truck was oversized for the four ton weight limit, police say.

When Guido spoke with the 35-year-old Maplewood man the officer smelled marijuana.  Cpl. Rubino arrived to provide assistance as Handcock’s truck was searched, police report.

The officers found a plastic bag containing marijuana, rolling papers and a metal smoking pipe.  Handcock was taken into custody and brought to police department headquarters, police say.

Handcock was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and for violating the weight limit on White Lake Road.
