SPARTA, NJ – A Bayonne resident found himself in custody when the car he was riding in made an illegal left turn on to Sparta Avenue.  On July 3 around 11:35 p.m. Cpl. Marc Rubino saw Timothy O’Sullivan driving his four door Mitsubishi make the prohibited turn, police said.

When the officer was speaking with O’Sullivan he saw the front seat passenger did not have his seat belt on.  Rubino asked Roberto Rivera, 35, for his identification, police report.

Rubino found Rivera had an active no bail warrant out of the Hudson County Sheriff’s department.  When Rivera was search after being arrested, he was found to have drug paraphernalia.  Rivera was taken to Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing, police said.

O’Sullivan was ticketed for the illegal turn and released.  Rivera was charged with failing to wear a seatbelt and possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was given a court date and then turned over to Hudson County Sheriff’s department officers. #Sparta
