SPARTA, NJ –Sparta police followed up on a tip phoned in about a car being driven erratically and wound up arresting the driver. The caller reported a red Mercedes on Sparta Junction around 1:47 a.m. on February 5 according to police.
Cpl. Kurt Morris found and stopped the car driven by Rebecca Hazenkamp, 36, of Morristown. The officer smelled alcohol and saw Hazenkamp’s eyes were watery and bloodshot. She also slurred her words, police report.
Because of the icy road conditions, Morris took Hazenkamp to the Sparta Police Department headquarters to conduct the field sobriety tests. Once at headquarters Hazenkamp was given the field sobriety tests and then placed under arrest. She was processed and breath tested, police report.
Hazenkamp was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and failure to notify change of address.
