SPARTA, NJ – A 63-year-old man from Hopatcong is facing drug charges after a traffic stop for a broken brake light. Sparta Police Officer Timothy Lynott stopped Keith Wood in his white Ford F-150 on August 24 around 7:30 p.m. according to police.
Lynott smelled raw marijuana in the car. When he asked Wood about the smell of marijuana Wood said it must have been his body odor. Lynott, assisted by Cpl. Schomp and Police Officer Finley, searched the truck and found a glass marijuana pipe, a small baggie and a large bag of marijuana, police report.
Wood was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department headquarters. Wood was charged with maintenance of lamps, controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, drug paraphernalia and possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. He was released pending a court date.
