SPARTA. NJ – a Sparta man has been charged with driving while intoxicated on June 19 around 11 p.m.  Sparta Cpl, Kurt Morris stopped a 2007 GMC driven by John Wiedmayer on Woodport Road because Wiedmayer was not staying in his lane, police report.

Wiedmayer, 57, was pulled over on Pine Cone Lane after crossing the double yellow lines.  When Morris spoke with Wiedmayer he suspected Wiedmayer was intoxicated.  Morris had Wiedmayer perform field sobriety tests and then took him into custody, according to police

Wiedmayer was taken to Sparta Police Department Headquarters for breath testing and processing.  He was charged with DWI, careless driving and failure to maintain lane. 

He was released to a sober adult pending a court date.
