SPARTA, NJ – A speeding driver from Staten Island is facing drug charges after being pulled over on Route 15. On April 27, around 10:50 a.m. Sparta Police Officer Tom Snyder stopped a 2008 Honda for speeding and a broken tail light, police report.
When Snyder spoke with Steven Trivolis he smelled raw marijuana coming from the car. The 21-year-old admitted to Snyder that he had drug paraphernalia in the car. When the car was searched the officer found a small amount of marijuana and assorted drug paraphernalia, according to police.
Trivolis was taken into custody and brought to the Sparta Police Department Headquarters. He was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was ticketed for speeding, maintenance of lamps, failure to keep right, failure to produce registration, possession of controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
Trivolis was released pending a court date.
