SPARTA, NJ - A Stanhope man is facing drunk driving charges after being stopped for a broken brake light and drifting in and out of his lane on Route 15.  On July 16, Sparta around midnight Sparta Cpl. Richard Smith pulled over a NIssan Extera driven by Victor Blanco, according to police.

Smith smelled alcohol when he spoke with Blanco.  Smith had Blanco get out of the car and gave him field sobriety tests.  Sparta Police Officer Finley assisted. Blanco was found to be intoxicated and was taken into custody, police report.

Blanco was taken to the Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing and breath testing. Blanco was charged with DWI, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, maintenance of lamps.  He was released to a responsible sober adult pending a mandatory court appearance.
