SPARTA, NJ- A Sussex man stopped for speeding is facing drunk driving charges.  On September 19 around 12:1 a.m. Cpl. Kurt Morris stopped Michael Evans, 58 in a white Toyota SUV speeding 75 in a 55 MPH zone on Route 15 north, police said.

When Morris spoke with the driver he smelled alcohol in the car.  Morris had Evans get out of the car and perform field sobriety tests, police said.

Evans was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing.  After being breath tested Evans was charged with DWI, speeding, obstructed view and careless driving.  He was given a court date and released to a sober adult.
