SPARTA, NJ – A Wantage man is facing drug charges after getting pulled over for a broken tail light on Stanhope Road.  Sparta Police Officer Tom Herd saw Nicholas Veith driving a 2012 Honda on May 14 around 12:20 a.m. with a cracked tail light, a burned-out license plate light and window tinting that was too dark according to police.

When Herd spoke with the 20-year-old driver he smelled raw marijuana.  Veith admitted having marijuana in the trunk of the car.  Herd found marijuana and assorted items of drug paraphernalia in the car according to police.

Veith was brought to Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing.  He was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Vieth was also ticketed for cracked tail light, non-functioning license plate lights, tinted windows and possession of controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

He was released pending a court date.
