SPARTA, NJ — The Thomas Murray Skate Park is getting a makeover. Construction is underway to convert the area next to the children’s castle at Station Park into ”two regulation high school sized basketball courts,” according to Sparta Township Manager William Close.

In his manager’s report at the August 14, Close said the project is expected to be completed by the end of August. The work is being done by both Sparta Township employees and outside contractors.

The project has been delayed by the weather and the drainage had to be worked on according to Close, but the courts should be ready for play by Labor Day.
