CHATHAM, NJ - Sparta High School softball's Paige Smith stole the show again on Wednesday, much like she did on Tuesday, when she pitched a one-hitter and brought in one of the two runs in the game. Sparta beat Chatham, 2-0.

Smith had two hits including a double but her performance on the mound was once again the highlight of the game. She struck out eight batters and allowed just one hit a day after she pitched a no hitter in the home opener. She earned another win as Sparta won their fifth straight game.

Erin Scott had two of the five Sparta hits. Olivia Bouma-Hannam had the other RBI for the Lady Spartans as well as two walks, Justyne D'Ascoli had the other Sparta hit in a game that was dominated by the pitching duel.

Melissa Landry started for Chatham and though she only gave up five hits, she did walk five batters. Each and every Spartan battled in their at-bat and even when they didn't get a hit, they saw enough pitches to make adjustments for the next at-bat.

Sparta is now 5-2. They will face Blair on Thursday.
