SPARTA, NJ - The Sparta softball team scored a run in the seventh inning Thursday against Morris Hills to earn win number 8. The final score was 5-4. All nine Sparta players got a hit. 

Paige Smith was not her usual self on the mound, giving up four runs with three of them earned. But Smith helped the team at the plate with two hits in four at bats. She had a double, scored two runs and reached base a third time on a hit by pitch. Anne Monroe had three RBIs on two doubles. 

Erin Scott had two hits that included a double. Catcher Tatianna Esteva-Ingram hit a homerun. Isabella DeFillipis had a hit and earned two walks to push the Morris Hills' pitcher's pitch count higher and higher.

Justyne D'Ascoli, Kate Esso and Nina DiCesare all singled as part of Sparta's 11 hits. 

Sparta is now 8-3.
