SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta softball team rolled on to the final round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament after beating Kittatinny on Tuesday, 3-1. The Spartans' victory win came off two home runs: Courtney McKenna drove in Anne Monroe and Gretchen Bowie’s solo.
Pitcher Paige Smith went the distance, striking out 10, giving up only four hits and two walks. It was her 13th victory.
After the game the team celebrated Coach RIck Poots’ 300th career win, which came two week ago.
Sparta will face Hunterdon Central softball on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Phillipsburg for the championship round Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament.
