As President of our program, I would like to officially congratulate our 2014 Sparta Spartans Youth Football and Cheer scholarship recipients, Matt Seville, and Danielle Lowen.  As a youth football player Matt showed all the qualities of a leader, and continued those skills.  He split time working hard on the football field for Sparta High School, and assisting with coaching our 8th grade team.  Nothing highlighted his dedication and character more than leading his Spartans as their quarterback to a State title.  Not too many kids can go home and Compare Spartan Championship rings with their Father, but Matt and Lou Seville got to do just that.  Not only was Lou a Sparta State champ also, he was a Sparta Spartans Youth Football coach, and board member for many years.  So on behalf of myself, and the entire Spartans family, thank your both for everything you’ve done for our program, the kids, and the town!

Our other recipient, Danielle Lowen is equally impressive.  Danielle began her cheerleading adventure as a Sparta Spartans Youth “FLAG” Cheerleader.  She perfected her skills as she cheered all the way through 8th grade.  Its because of her hard work and dedication that she was able to make the Varsity team as a Freshman! She continued as a Varsity Cheerleader throughout her fours years at SHS, and even made Captain.  Besides being a stand out cheerleader, Danielle placed in the Russian Olympiada, volunteered with pass it a long, made honor roll several times, and even volunteered her time to tutor others in French.

Both Matt and Danielle exemplify what the Sparta Spartans Youth Football and cheer program is all about.  They are leaders on the field, but more important than that, they are roll models in the community.  We have always produced great football players wining over 100 Championships in our more than 60 years serving the Youth of Sparta.  But I believe more important than that are the lessons we teach our kids about giving back to your community and others.

We have a storied history and tradition in our community that spans multiple generations.  I can’t count on 2 hands how many of us, who came through this program, have come back to volunteer our time to it.  It’s that same passion and dedication that we try and pick out, and reward with our scholarships.  So again, from myself, the Sparta Spartans Youth Football and Cheer program, and your whole Spartan family, congratulation Matt and Danielle.
